First Word Records is delighted to announce the signing of Sarah Williams White. Born and raised in South East London, Sarah is the latest product of the incredibly fertile local music scene that has brought us the likes of Mo Kolours and Henry Wu as well as Sarah’s brother Paul White.

A multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, Sarah cites influences including Jamie Lidell, Erykah Badu and PJ Harvey as well as more contemporary acts such as Hiatus Kaiyote and Thundercat. Her sound mixes soulful, intricate vocals with subtle beats and layered harmonies.

Since releasing her debut single in 2011, Sarah has been tirelessly recording and gigging, working towards her self-produced debut LP ‘Of The New World’ which will be released later this autumn. In the mean time we’re sharing her track ‘Winter Sun’ which serves as a fitting introduction to the record. Starting with brooding keys and breathy harmonies, the track fuses Sarah’s innate ear for a hook with deceptively complex rhythms. The result is something entirely her own – look out for more from this uniquely talented artist very soon.
